106-year-old Virginia McLaurin was awarded a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet and dance with President Obama and Lady Michelle Obama at the White House. The Obamas greeted Ms. McLaurin in sheer amusement as she danced and squealed with excitement to finally meet them. Ms. McLaurin, who was born in 1909 in South Carolina, worked as a seamstress for most of her life and has been a widow for more than 70 years. She expressed how happy she was to live to see an African American family in the White house. She put forth quite an effort to get to the White House. She submitted a petition to the White House in 2014 and also created a YouTube video and Facebook page. Her hard work paid off because she was finally awarded her opportunity and what a joyous, historic occasion it was.
